Introduction
The first time I was introduced to Ricoh cameras and I was with the DSO in 2006 while trying to replace the simple point & Shoot digital camera I had at the time. I was looking for something that would give me more control over the final image by offering full manual controls, RAW and a wide angle lens without losing pocketability. I was with the GRD I and GRD II cameras on an almost daily basis over the last 3 years.Having a serious compact camera with me at any time allowed me to capture moments that would not have been possible with a larger unit or a simple point & shoot compact camera....
The GXR Ricoh camera system has a new concept for equipment consumer digital photography. The GXR digital camera allows users to exchange not only of lenses, but lenses with integrated sensors. An image sensor is not integrated into the body of the GXR: instead there is one in each unit lens camera. It is a design that takes a little getting used to, and it will not fail to attract much attention when your friend get a glimpse of it.
The body of the GXR has a 3 inch LCD screen; it is metal and it is very difficult. It has a comfortable handle, a battery and SD memory card compartment, and control buttons.Ricoh claims that it is the smallest camera with interchangeable lenses on the market - it is a few millimeters smaller than GF1 Panasonic Lumix Micro Four Thirds-based camera.
It is a processor inside the organization that manages the menu system and features standard equipment, but the units have their own objective image processing integrated. This will determine the image quality (the type of processor will depend on the camera).
