QUINCY, ILL. - The freezing temperatures created a near accident to an area resident.
The Quincy Fire Department responded to this house in the 2200 block of South 8th Street shortly before 2 pm Tuesday.
The fire chief said Joe Henning KHQA owner used a heater to try to thaw frozen pipes.
Fortunately, nobody was injured, and one house had minor damage. But Henning said the case serves as a reminder.
He said: "Especially if you try to heat pipes at all, you do not want to leave it unattended."
Fortunately, the owners of houses on 8th Street South was home and was able to call the fire department.We asked how Henning firefighters remain in these frigid temperatures.
